St. Rachel Health Clinic Community Healthcare Seminar

On August 23, 2025, St. Rachel Health Clinic successfully held its first community health care seminar at Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal. This meaningful activity served as the official introduction of the soon-to-open three-storey health clinic, which aims to provide quality and accessible healthcare services to the community.

The seminar was well-attended, drawing nearly 100 participants from the local community. It opened with the presence of Dr. Eric Tayag, Medical Director and member of the PCPD Board of Trustees, former Undersecretary of the DOH, and a long-time advocate for women’s health and rights. His participation set the tone for a program focused on health education, awareness, and prevention.

Dr. Tayag opened the seminar by introducing the PCPD and St. Rachel Clinic as a medium to carry out the corporate mission of providing support to the Healthcare of the community. He effectively engaged the participants through a brief and interactive dialogue successfully eliciting the participants' health concerns.

The first speaker was Dr. Bernabe Marinduque, Obstetrician-Gynecologist and member of the PCPD Board of Trustees, who emphasized the importance of reproductive health and women’s empowerment in making informed health decisions.

This was followed by Dr. Monica Cabral, Internist-Endocrinologist, who discussed Diabetes Awareness. She introduced the simple yet powerful acronym IWAS as a practical guide to diabetes management:

  • IIkonsulta sa doktor (Consult a doctor)
  • WWastong pagkain (Proper diet)
  • AAktibong pamumuhay (Active lifestyle)
  • SSapat at angkop na gamot (Sufficient and appropriate medication)

There was a lively question and answer while Dr. Abe and Dr. Cabral were was doing their lectures. The encouraging exchange highlights the community’s readiness to embrace proactive approaches to health and wellness.

The seminar was made possible through the leadership and support of key individuals, including Dr. Esperanza Cabral (PCPD  and St Rachel Chairman), Ms. Evelyn Singson (PCPD President), and Mr. Tom Guarin (PCPD Executive Director). Special thanks are also extended to Barangay San Jose, headed by Chairman Glenn Evangelista, OIC Area 2 Wilfredo Mapola Jr., and all barangay personnel for their invaluable assistance. The organizers are equally grateful to the Amityville Homeowners Association, led by President Ronilo Jarabe, for providing the venue for this important event.

                                                                                         

The St. Rachel Health Clinic Healthcare Seminar was truly a successful and meaningful activity, fostering health awareness and strong community engagement.

 

Dr. Eric Tayag, graced the event and facilitated the opening of the St. Rachel Health Clinic Seminar. His presence highlighted the importance of community-based health initiatives and set an inspiring tone for the program.

Dr. Bernabe Marinduque and Dr. Monica Cabral delivered insightful discussions on their respective topics, providing valuable knowledge that will greatly benefit the community’s health and well-being.

PCPD Chairman Dr. Esperanza Cabral and President Evelyn Singson gave their full support to the first community activity of St. Rachel Health Clinic, sharing heartfelt messages that emphasized their commitment to serving and uplifting the health and well-being of the community.
