Training of Teachers and Pilot Implementation of the Population and Development Education Teaching Modules in Selected Public Schools in Metro Manila

Lessons in the POPDEVED Teaching Modules are integrated in the curriculum of 33 public elementary and 16 secondary schools in the cities of Mandaluyong and Navotas. A pool of POPDEVED trainers of Metro Manila teachers and Popcom NCR staff will also be developed and tapped for roll-out training and replication in other cities.

Key strategies of the project include: (1) ensuring the buyin of the Department of Education through orientation of its officials and consultation with them; (2) training of trainers; (3) roll-out training of 245 teachers and supervisors from 49 schools; (4) reproduction of visual aids and information, education, and communication materials for the use by teachers; and(5) monitoring and evaluation through pre- and posttests of students and class observation.
