News - PCPD Celebrates Its 40th Year

2013 marks PCPD’s 40th year as a foundation.

PCPD celebrated its anniversary last 13 July at the Shangri-la Hotel in Makati, together with partners, grantees, friends, and former staff members.

In his welcome remarks, Sen. Vicente Paterno, PCPD’s chair, stressed how the Foundation has relied on its strength to respond to various challenges that it confronted through the years.

This strength, according to him, “is its ability and readiness to accept changing circumstances and to draw on these to redefine its strategies and thrusts. This way, it allows itself to evolve into an organization that is able to adapt to changes yet remains constant to its core of balancing population and development.”

Three Board members who retired last year were also honored – Dean Mercedes Concepcion, former chair Peter Garrucho, and former treasurer Octavio Espiritu.

Rep. Imelda Marcos, PCPD’s founding chair, also graced the occasion.

A video on how PCPD has evolved, aptly titled 40 Years of Transformation from Within, was also shown.

The event turned out to be both a celebration and a reunion, with “lots of happiness and positive energy radiating from everybody,” which was how the night’s program host, Yasmin Mapua-Tang, executive director of Probe Media Foundation and one of PCPD’s partners, described it.

PCPD executive director Felicitas Rixhon proposed a toast in gratitude to all who supported the Foundation for four decades.
