News - Gender Snapshot: Covid-19 in the Philippines

UN Women presented the gender dimensions of Covid-19 affecting Filipino women and girls, specifically with regard to the following concerns:

• Gendered-based violence;
• Peace and security in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao;
• Economic impacts on women;
• Women migrant workers;
• Women's leadership and participation; and
• Impacts on women civil society.

The report also presented recommendations for each of the concerns so government and policymakers could "place women and girls at the center of COVID-19 responses" in the country.
